April, May and JUNE AS WELL!!!!!!! I can't believe it!

It is almost July already! So much has happened, and I will try and tell you all about it, but I am not sure if I can actually remembered everything!

First things first: I've started my new job at Starbucks! And I love it! It is different, but it is really fun and I am learning new things every day! None of you would believe what good coffee tastes and smells like - there is no going back for me now! I will never again have coffee from the supermarket! I will be the Assistant Store Manager for one of the stores in the district around here as soon as I have completed my training in about four weeks.

Last weekend, I ran the race for life, which was fantastic! There was hundreds of women taking part and I did the 5km in 30 minutes, which is not bad for me, considering I only started running about six weeks ago and had the flu! I had to walk part of the way, because I felt really dizzy and a bit ill, but it was definitely worth it in the end. I even got a medal! How cool am I:-)

March 2008

March is almost over - so here we go again. We are settling in and I think we are both pretty happy here. Today, the weather is miserable, so we haven't really done much at all. Jim has to study most of this weekend, so I just stay in and read and cuddle my little dog.
We had a few visitors this month: First, Jim's mum came to stay with us for a few days before we all went to see Jim's family in Yorkshire for the weekend. We had a lovely time up there and it was great to see everyone. Then, Paul and Liz stayed with us over Easter and even though we were kicked out of the worst pub in the world on the first night, it was a fun and successful weekend - since I finally got my hair cut. I have got a fringe and I think I quite like it! I was pretty scared when I first looked in the mirror and rather shocked, but now I got used to it and I think it was the right time to try out something new.
Last wednesday, Jim and I spent the day in London. We went to see Greg and Caroline and Jim's cousin and her family that I haven't met before. It was a wonderful evening. We all had dinner together and played bowling on Greg's Nintendo Wii - and I have to say I am quite talented. But I am even better in boxing, so we had a go at that and it was showdown time: Rhodes vs. Rhodes and I WON!!!!!! Yeah! Even though I was quite worried that I would hit Greg and Carolines TV, since I was really getting in to that hitting business................. Before we went to see them, we did some sightseeing and had some lunch in Covent Garden.

Mhm..... what else happened....... I applied for a few jobs, but have not been to an interview yet..... mhm..... I guess, March flew by again and now it is almost spring! I can't wait for the rain to stop and for the sun to shine so I can take my doggy dog out for looooooooong walks!

Anyway, I hope all of you are online checking flights regularly, because I miss you and hope to see you again soon!

February 2008

Here I am again: online and back for good:-)
February was quite a stressful month for us. The move went quite smoothly, but everything around it was rather tiring! The beginning of the month we spent packing.... and there was a lot to pack. You never realize until you actually start and then see that it never ends! There always is another drawer that you haven't opened and another box in the attic you have never actually unpacked! And god, we had a lot of shite that we didn't know we had. But in the end we got it all done and on the morning of the 5th of Feb, the removal guys turned up and off it all was... We spent the next four nights in a hotel in Gütersloh. It was a lovely hotel, and since the Army was paying we had a wonderful dinner every night. And every one of those dinners consisted of a starter, a main course and a dessert platter.... YES - not just a dessert, but a dessert PLATTER. It was lovely. We spent the nights in the Hotel bar, which was one of the best bars I've ever been to. The barkeeper knew his job and was really entertaining. And even though I was planning to have a diet coke and bugger off to bed, I ended up having two cocktails every night (10€ each). If anyone of you ever spends a night in Gütersloh - go to the ParkBar, the hotel bar of the Parkhotel.
We handed our flat over and on saturday we collected our bunny and the hamster from a friend and set off on our one-way journey to Bordon, England.
The next three nights, we spent in a lovely hotel in England, not far from Bordon. On Sunday, we went to look at our house, and were quite pleasantly surprised. When we got the keys on Monday morning, we finally found out, how many bedrooms we have and that we should be able to fit everything in! The weather was fantastic, with sunshine and temperature above 10° every day. That helped a lot, since we had to eat in the garden the first couple of days, when the kitchen was full of boxes (Jim thinks that was due to my Tupperware, but in the end it turned out to be the liqueur!)
We worked a lot the first week and got most of the house done before my brother Jannik came to see us that weekend. It was wonderful to have him here and I can't wait for him to come over again!
Jim started his course the following monday, but then he had Wednesday, Thursday and Friday off again..... That's Army life... the poor bugger! We concentrated our energies on getting the internet up and running, so I could stay in touch with all of you and get back to work. I was finally able to work last week and I was supposed to fly over to Germany for four days this week, but on Friday afternoon I got a call, telling me that I would not have to come back to Germany, since the company I worked for, was not doing very well and the had to make people redundant. Since I was only working freelance, I was one of them. But I don't mind so much - I am now really looking forward to finding a new challenge here in England. But my heart goes out to all of those of my colleagues that were dismissed last week. It is not easy for them and I hope they will soon find something new!

But now, the greatest news of all: WE HAVE GOT A LITTLE DOG! We adopted her from our friends and she is the most adorable little sweetie ever! We named her Shadie and I walk her for about one and a half hours a day. The fresh air makes me feel really good and it is nice to get out of the house.

I hope that most of you will come to visit us here, because there is a lot to do. We're close to London on one side and very close to the sea on the other - Portsmouth is only about 30 minutes away. The countryside around here is great, and very good for long walks with cute little dogs! So come over and see us soon!

I miss you all! Hugs and kisses!

January 2008

I know I've been quite lazy this past month, when it comes to this blog at least..... And to packing..... I hate packing with a passion. As soon as you start to pack, your flat doesn't feel like home anymore and it is a mess for weeks. That's what ours has been like. We were really motivated at the beginning of the month, so we started packing up the spare room, which looks like it's been hit by a bomb ever since. After the first two boxes, I got tired with it, shut the door and just kept opening it to dump more sh** in it:-)
You might be wondering what got me to write now... Well, I just had my new keyboard and screen delivered, so I wanted to try it out. And obviously, the best way to try out a keyboard is to write as much as you can.
It's only 5 days until our furniture is picked up and shipped back to the UK. And it is only 9 days until we will squeeze into our wonderful car, with the hamster and the rabbit and get the ferry back to the island. I am not sure how I feel yet... I am looking forward to it, but it is also a bit scary, since we don't know what the house is like, or what is gonna happen while we are there. We will meet lots of new people and we'll have to make new friends.... Well, we want to make new friends!
I am keeping my job in Germany and work from home (that's why I got a screen and a keyboard to go with my beautiful MacBook). Every few weeks I will be traveling back to Germany to spend a couple of days at my company and maybe, hopefully see my parents and brother and sister.
So, yes, I need to start packing today..... even though I would rather spend more time telling you about how I feel! I have to apologise for feeling so sorry for myself.... CAN'T HELP IT!
Take care everyone!

Welcome 2008

Sooo much has been going on over the last couple of weeks.... with christmas and the wedding and the new year starting.... and I would like to write about everything, but at the moment, I feel so tired. I will start anyway, so in case the blog entry just stops in the middle of a sentence, don't be too surprised!

We spent christmas at my mom and dad's in Lüneburg. That way, we didn't have to rush up after christmas for the wedding. It was a rather quiet christmas, not as much food as every other year, which was really nice, especially since we knew that the days after christmas would be exhausting enough.

On the 27th the first few friends came up for the wedding. So that night we went out for a few drinks and some food. We had a really good time, and left a lot too late.... which we only realized the morning after, when we had to get up early to start picking people up from the airport. So, it was the day before the big day already and it was such a long day. When we went out with everyone that was there already that night, people started telling me I looked ill! In the end I went home at 11p.m. and straight to bed. I slept really, really well that night and god knows I needed that good night of sleep!
